Donating a Vehicle
About donating a vehicle
What we accept, what happens next, and how the tax side works.
What kinds of vehicles do you accept?
We accept cars, trucks, vans and SUVs that can be restored to safe, dependable condition. Our ASE-certified technicians assess every donation individually, so tell us about the vehicle even if you are unsure — we will let you know either way.
Does the vehicle need to be running?
Not necessarily. Many donations arrive needing repair, and that is exactly what our workshop is for. What matters is whether the vehicle can be brought to a standard we would be comfortable handing to a family.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. Autos of Love is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and you will receive a receipt for your records. We are not able to give tax advice, so please check with your accountant about what you can claim.
How do I start the donation?
Fill in the vehicle donation form on our Donate page, or call us on (234) 578-0313 and we will walk you through it.
Nominations
About nominating someone
Who qualifies, how the committee decides, and when awards happen.
Who can I nominate?
Anyone living in Tarrant County who serves their community, needs reliable transportation, and would use a vehicle to keep doing good for others. You can nominate a neighbor, a colleague, a family member, or yourself.
Can I nominate myself?
Yes. Self-nominations are read exactly the same way as any other. Tell us your story honestly — the committee is looking for impact, not polish.
How is the recipient chosen?
A volunteer committee of three to five community reviewers reads every nomination independently. The selected finalist is kept confidential so the presentation stays a genuine surprise.
What does the recipient receive?
A fully restored, safety-inspected vehicle at no cost, plus one year of complimentary maintenance so the gift keeps working long after the keys change hands.
